I’ve been obsessed with documentaries on Netflix lately.
I’ve watched everything from finding out the genesis of General Tso’s chicken (No, I’m not kidding. I live an excited life.) to a bunch about of them about cults.
One that stands out is titled “Eddie Strongman.” It was about this dude from the UK whose lifelong goal was to be declared the strongest man in the world. His passion and dedication to this goal was intense and unrelenting.
One of the most heartbreaking parts of the movie was when he set the world record in the deadlift but in his excitement, he dropped the weight, which apparently is illegal and he was disqualified.
Was he heartbroken? Yes? Did it stop him? No. He went right back to training. He refocused and got back to work.
The lesson for all of us is obvious but that’s not what this is about.
You see, the secondary story was the love Eddie had for his wife and how much his wife supported him in his mission. There is a scene where tough guy Eddie is talking about his wife and he is so overwhelmed by his love for her he starts crying.
Do you have a spouse, friend, or significant other that stands by you through thick and thin? That encourages you and supports you in your mission? I know I do and that I’m blessed.
If you do, I suggest you first take a second and feel gratitude then express your gratitude and love to that person.
I guarantee that’ll be more important in the long run than learning the newest sales or marketing strategy.
Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!
