The other night, Kalia went to get her haircut from our mutual friend and one of the country’s top hairstylists, Daniel Holzberger. The dude is an enigma. He cuts hair, is an MMA fighter, and is a serial entrepreneur.
We went to an Italian restaurant around the corner from his salon. We let him order the food, which was mistake #1. Here’s what the three of us had.
A bottle of Chianti.
A loaf of garlic cheese bread.
A large cheese pizza.
Chicken parm.
Lasagna.
No, I’m not kidding.
You might have ordered too much to eat when an Italian mother/waitress says, “I’m not here to judge!”
Of course, with all that food, we finished the bottle of wine, so I ordered a second bottle. That was mistake numero dos.
Mistake #3 was eating almost all of it! Granted, Kalia showed some self-control. Me? Not so much.
When we got home, I waddled upstairs and flopped in bed after brushing my teeth for what turned out to be a restless sleep. Gee, I wonder why?
Normally, I am a very healthy eater. I eat a low-carb, low-sugar diet and am at my ideal weight. (I didn’t dare step on the scale this morning!) But last night, I got off track – waaaay off track.
In the past, that may have led to me being off track for quite a while and then beating myself up about it.
Yesterday, however, I returned to my healthy ways immediately. Upon awakening, I hit the Peloton treadmill and ate light and healthy meals all day. I’ll do the same today.
Here’s the point:
Maybe you’ve slipped a little and either neglected things you know you should be doing to move your business and life forward. You may have committed to some New Year resolutions that have fallen by the wayside.
Congratulations! You’re human.
Instead of feeling bad about it, do something today that puts you back on the train to success. I guarantee you’ll feel better about yourself and wouldn’t that be a fantastic way to start the weekend.
Oh, I’m getting my haircut in a couple of weeks, and Daniel and I are going out to dinner. I’ll keep you updated.
Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!
