Over the weekend, Kalia and I watched Nonnas on Netflix, which is not typically what I enjoy.
But at the end, I said:
“Sometimes you need a little variety by watching a feel-good movie.”
And it’s the same with your presentations.
If your talk hits only one emotional note the entire time…
You’re not moving the audience—you’re flatlining them.
A great presentation is an emotional roller coaster, by design.
You want to create tension and discomfort…
Then relief.
Then hope.
Then a gut-punch of reality.
Then a laugh.
Then longing.
Then clarity.
Then urgency.
Just like a great movie, you’re guiding the emotional states of your audience with intentional turns and pacing.
That’s how you create an experience that changes people.
Because what moves people to buy isn’t “information.”
It’s emotion.
And when you get this right?
Your audience will not only thank you at the end, they’ll want to work with you.
