The biggest mistake professionals make when designing their presentation?
They don’t think through the emotional sequence they want their audience to experience.
They think in bullet points and not in buying states.
Here’s what’s actually required if you want to convert:
- Start by anchoring them in their painful present. Not with melodrama—but with real, undeniable tension. You must get them to emotionally connect with what their current situation is costing them.
- Then show a clear and desirable future they want. Make it visual. Emotional. Personal.
- Next, show them what’s blocking them. Call out the specific roadblocks that are in their way (including the hidden ones they haven’t named yet).
- Then, show them why those won’t be solved by information alone. The shift they need is not more “how-to”—it’s a different strategy, guide, or vehicle.
- Finally, present yourself as the clear and only logical next step. You are not “a” solution—you are the solution that makes everything above possible.
That is what gets your audience to take action.
And every part of your talk must be engineered to build this arc.
Because your content doesn’t close the sale.
The emotional journey you take them on does.
