One of my all-time favorite bands, is NRBQ. Odds are you’ve never heard of them. They never made it big or had a hit record but garnered a small legion of fans ever since they formed in the late sixties.
I had seen them dozens of times at small clubs throughout the country and when their lead singer and guitarist Big Al Anderson retired, they were never the same. NRBQ eventually disbanded in 2004 when the heart and soul of the band, Terry Adams was diagnosed with throat cancer.
You can imagine my excitement when I heard that Big Al was going to be playing a charity gig right here in Atlanta. My buddy and I immediately bought tickets to the show and I waited for it with great anticipation.
After a few opening acts, Big Al took the stage with electric guitar in-tow. I was stunned to see how old he looked. He is only 69 but seemed older. I guess that’s what years on the road will do to you.
He moved slowly and struggled to lean over to adjust some equipment on the floor. A chair was placed on stage in case he needed to sit down.
But then he started to play…
And he was transformed.
He went from being old to full of energy. From struggling to rocking. Not only did he light up, he lit up the club with intense guitar playing and passionate vocals. Big Al was clearly having fun as was everyone in the crowd.
When you do what you love to do people can feel it and it can be infectious. Do you still love what you do?
Now, I’m not talking about loving every aspect of it. I sure don’t love getting on a plane and staying in a hotel away from my family but I do love getting on stage teaching, training and entertaining.
If you’ve lost some of your mojo, reconnect with how you are really impact people’s live. Reconnect with your mission. Try something new in your business that’ll spark your interest again. Do that, and your sales will increase and you’ll have more fun…no matter what your age.
Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!

P.S. One of the best ways to get your juices flowing once again, is to to get in front of people and speak – whether you’re “on stage” or online. Wanna learn how to do it and crush it. Check out the training I’m doing next week.
