I’ve been to a lot of airports in my day, but Keflavík International Airport in Iceland takes the cake for the best sales strategy.
After Karen and I went through security, to get to our gate, we had to walk through a large gift shop. Just like at a good amusement park, the only way to get to where you were going was to go through a retail location. Of course, we stopped, looked around each bought some stuff. (For the record, Karen’s purchases were more expensive than mine.)
So now is the time for you to put your thinking cap on and figure out how you can apply the principle behind this strategy to your business and what you sell.
If you’re an online marketing person, this shouldn’t take too much thought. I can quickly come up with ideas for chiropractors, dentists, financial advisors, lawyers, etc. (If you’re stuck, think about offering a high-quality info product but don’t “settle” for that. Get creative.)
So, I have another three hours before we land at JFK and then fly to back home to the ATL. A nap is definitely in order.
