Yesterday Karen and I were sipping our morning coffee – actually an espresso for me – and I had a revelation about YOU.
Before I tell you about that, tomorrow Mark Timm, the executive VP of Zig Ziglar’s organization is doing a webinar with Kevin Harrington, one of the original sharks on “Shark Tank.” They’ll be going over a unique framework for growing your business. So here was what I realized about you and everyone else who is reading this.
You’re a “strange being” because you are someone who invests their time, energy, and money in personal development and LEARNING how to grow your business.
In general, most people never read an educational book after high school. Shockingly, I’ve found that most business owners don’t consume information about growing their businesses let alone spend money on courses, seminars, coaching, etc. Go ask an everyday business owner to tell you the last sales or marketing book they’ve read, and you’ll get a blank stare.
A couple of weeks ago, I spoke at the amazing Robin Robins’ Bootcamp for IT professionals. There were about 1,400 attendees who were all focused on learning sales and marketing to grow their business. I interviewed some of the vendors who sponsored the event and asked them, “Is there anything different about the attendees of a Robin Robins’ seminar than other industry events you exhibit at?” Every single vendor said that the attendees at Robin’s event were more serious and more dedicated to their success than IT folks at other events.
Wow. That is so true.
You and I are kindred spirits. We are more serious and dedicated to growing our business than the average bear.
