Sit down next to a roaring fire with Dr. Dee, and let me tell you how you can make your stockings overflow all year long.
Movies like “Frosty,” “Scrooge,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and others are certainly Christmas classics. However, alternative movies include “Black Christmas” and “Krampus.” Yes, these are Christmas horror movies.
Before you think I have a heart of coal, my favorite holiday movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I watched it again this year and teared up at the end like I always do, but I also enjoy Krampus.
For those not in the know, according to Wikipedia, “In Central European folklore, Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as “half-goat, half-demon,” who, during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved.”
Often, doing the opposite of the norm gives you the best results. Going against the crowd and doing what everyone else in your industry gives you a competitive advantage.
For example, it’s an accepted “fact” that it’s not a good idea to “compete against Santa” when you’re in the information marketing business. We took the opposite approach this month and are making many sales.
Another example. I’ve had some of my best conversions during webinars on Saturday mornings. While fewer people register, the folks who do are serious about wanting to learn what I’m teaching.
What industry norms or rules could or should you be breaking?
Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero.
