Do I need to turn in my man card?

I have a confession to make.

Last Friday, Karen, I decided to have a movie night at home.

Understand that selecting a movie is typically a long process. I love horror, dark dramas, and gangster movies. Karen likes sci-fi, action-adventure, and chick-flicks.

Because I’m a strong believer in “happy wife, happy life,” we most often watch a movie in a genre Karen enjoys. Friday night was no different. We watched “Pretty Woman.”

Karen has seen it multiple times. I had never seen it.

I buckled in for a snooze-fest, hoping I could stay awake long enough to collect the “points” I should rightfully be awarded.

Here’s the thing.

I loved the movie. I mean, I really, really loved it.

Fortunately, I was sipping on a bourbon and not a glass of chardonnay while enjoying the film, so I think I can keep my “man card” safely tucked away in my wallet.

Oftentimes, we have preconceived notions about, well, a lot of things.

We decide that a certain marketing strategy won’t work because no one else in our industry is using it, so we don’t test it.

We think the topic we have for our webinar is exactly what our prospects will be interested in, only to find out that they really wanted to hear about something else.

We believe that we shouldn’t have to sell and that being excellent at what we do is all that’s necessary for success.

The interesting fact is that challenging our preconceived notions and then trying something new is often where our biggest breakthroughs occur.

By attending S3 Summit: Liftoff in October, I can guarantee some of what you believe about sales, marketing, and client management will be challenged. In addition, you’ll hear new ideas and strategies for growing your business that will be diametrically opposed to what you’ve heard from “experts” in your industry.

But, if you open your mind to new, proven ideas, systems and strategies, you will walk away from the Summit armed with a step-by-step action plan to take your business to the next level.
