I just got back from an over-the-top decadent dinner with my mastermind group. Our meeting started early this morning, hence my not writing to you now.
There was so much great information I gained today that I could share with you, but there are two pieces of philosophical wisdom that I think will be most impactful if you think deeply about them.
The first comes from Perry Marshall, who said, and I’m paraphrasing, “What is the center of the Tootsie Pop?” Meaning, what is the core of what you truly want? I was talking about a particular strategy I had in mind that my group wasn’t thrilled with. Perry, insightfully asked me what I really wanted to achieve. After I gave my answer, people came up with alternative ways for me to achieve my outcome.
So, ask yourself, what is the outcome you’re going after, and then come up with different strategies for achieving that outcome.
The second gold nugget came from Chris Hurn, and it’s self-explanatory. He said, “Dave, this is a marathon, and you’re trying to make it a sprint.” Yes, we all want to reach our goals as quickly as possible, BUT we also have to remember that our benchmark should be “making measurable progress in a reasonable time.” As Chris told me, “It’s not realistic to think you’re going to take your business from seven figures to eight figures in one year.”
What I share with you here isn’t the newest, sexy marketing tactic, but rather two critical ways of thinking that can make a dramatic impact on your business and the quality of your life.
I hope you embrace them.
Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!
