I’m sitting in the green room at Robin Robin’s “Greatest IT Sales And Marketing Show On Earth.” I’m the emcee and speaking on Friday. We just finished a spectacular opening sequence. There were jugglers, people on stilts, contortionists, a lion’s cage, an opening video that was STUNNING. (Think “high-end” movie trailer.)

The audience was immediately FIRED-UP because the opening grabbed ’em by the throat that caused even the most disinterested spectator, to sit up in rapt attention.

Professional magicians are taught that they must open with an immediate bang. For example, David Copperfield appears sitting on a motorcycle to start his show.

Now, I’m not at all saying you need to create Robinesque or Copperfield-like opening to your presentations. However, you do need an opening that immediately captures your audience’s attention.
