This past weekend, I was a “free man.” Yep, Dr. Dee was a bachelor because Karen was on an annual outing with our son Drew.
So what did I decide to do with this newfound freedom? Man, it was CRAZY!
On Saturday night, I went to the best pizza place on the planet, Campania’s, sat at the bar had a Margarita DOP pie and drank a Peroni. I was a rebel, I tell you, going off my keto diet for the evening.
But I wasn’t done by a longshot. No way, Jose.
Next up, I went to the cigar bar, “Cutters” I’ve been dying to go to. The wife HATES cigars, and I am nearly banned from the house if I smoke one. But remember, I was unencumbered this weekend. So I had a fine cigar and a glass of Four Roses.
I spoke to the owner of “Cutters” and congratulated him on his success. (The bar was packed.) He told me it was a long time coming and that he started his business in a “little hole in the wall dump.” He kept working at it, building up a clientele and growing slowly. Years later, he finally has a successful business.
It reminds me of the the following Earl Nightingale quote:
“Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.”
Anyway, there is only so much “wild partying” one man can do, so yesterday, I plunked myself down on the couch and watched my beloved Miami Dolphins win their home opener.
Karen is coming home today which reminds me I better wash the clothes I wore on Saturday so she doesn’t smell the evidence of my bachelor’s weekend on them.
