Last night after dropping off a youngin’ for soccer practice, I headed to a local restaurant for a bite to eat and, well, it was half-price wine night so you know.
Because I was by my lonesome, I sat at the bar and sipped some wine, ate some really good brussels sprouts and a plate of steak tartare. I got to talking with a the 21 year old, blonde bartender. As an aside: twenty something women looks so damn young these days – or maybe your fearless leader is just old.
Anyway, I asked her what she wanted to do for a living. She told me she was taking business courses but didn’t have a clue as to what she wanted to do. So then I asked her what she loved to do. She couldn’t answer that question either. I finally asked her the classic question, “What would you do if you knew you would not fail?” She thought for a minute and said, “Hair and makeup, I guess.”
Now I guess not knowing the answer to those questions at age 21 is okay but there are some older folks who are still trying to find themselves or have given up going for what they really want.
Maybe you’ve got it all figured out. That’s cool but let me ask you, “What would you do if you knew you could not fail?” Is it a new business or something new inside your business that would take you tfrom where you are to where you want to be?
It’s an important question for you to ponder — at any age.
Gotta get on the plane to L.A.
Kick butt, make mucho DEEerno!
