If you want to make more sales, write this one word down and burn it into your brain:
TEXTURE.
If you go see any of the classic rock 'n roll performers, like Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart or The Rolling Stones (the latter two are touring again in 2015) you will see that their shows are full of texture.
They take you on an emotional roller coaster.
One minute you're pumping your fist in the air, then you're laughing and then you have tears in your eyes. These rock stars understand that a good performance hits different emotional notes. By doing so, they give you a rich experience and make you want to come back for more. (I'm going to see Rod for my well over 30th time, I've seen Springsteen a ton and the Stones twice.)
You leave their concerts exhilarated, happy and satisfyingly exhausted.
You want to make sure you have texture in your sales presentations as well.
The rah, rah high energy, one note motivational guy becomes boring and tedious if that's all he does. The speaker who only uses pain to motivate her audience will quickly be tuned out.
You want to keep your audience off balance by engaging different emotions. By doing this, your sales will increase dramatically and yes, you might even develop a fan base.
So the next time you do a presentation either live or via media, put your rock star self on.
Kick butt, make mucho 'DEEnero!"
