It’s like a scene from a movie. Karen and I went a little north of Modena to stay in a small inn where they produce balsamic vinegar and Lambrusco. The inn smells of sweet balsamic and the view from our room in breathtaking.
To add to the magic, it is snowing. Here is a picture:
We went for a long walk this morning, and now I’m going to do some work. Other than the speaking gig and sending you your daily email, I haven’t done much work, and I miss it. So for the next couple of hours, I’m going to do some writing.
Life in Modena runs at a much slower pace than back in the States. The shops open at 9:00 AM and close at noon. They don’t open again until 4:00 and then shut down at 7:30. At lunch, you find almost everyone having a glass of wine and dinner is a celebration. Virtually no one is on their phone. They are conversing and experiencing the food.
Now, I would not enjoy that slow of a pace, and I love work. That’s not my point. My point is that as entrepreneurs, we drive ourselves so hard that we often forget to celebrate life. If you’re like me, you love what you do, and you’re passionate about it, and you felt alive and fulfilled through your work.
However, there are times we should slow down and savor life. So here is my challenge for you today:
Pour yourself a glass of wine or your favorite beverage, relax and think about all that you are grateful for. Really feel it.
I’ll be toasting you from a snow-covered vineyard.
