I’m a busy single guy who travels a lot and finding a woman to have a relationship with is challenging. I’m definitely not into the bar scene so I’ve turned to online dating, specifically Match.com. At the risk of sounding like an egomaniac, I have been quite successful although I have yet to find the one.*
The truth is attracting a woman is very much like attracting your ideal client. In fact, many of the rules are the same. If there is enough interest, I might get into greater detail about the “system” I use and how it directly relates to sales but for today, I want to talk about one very important element.
First, a disclaimer: Nothing that I teach and use in my business or personal life is designed to deceive, manipulate or trick anyone into buying something. The Psychic Sales techniques are designed to help you give people what they really want, need and desire. Remember that the difference between manipulation and persuasion is intent.
Which brings us to today’s sales lesson: Getting inside your prospect’s head.
Before you start crafting a sales presentation, you need to know what is going on in your prospect’s mind on a very deep level. This goes far beyond basic demographic information. You need to know what you prospect is thinking and feeling. You need to know what they are looking for and what they desire. You also need to know what their “psychic wounds” are. Psychic wounds are pain points that your prospect has at it relates to what you are selling whether that be a product, service, idea or yourself.
I will be going over this in greater detail on the free, live sales training I’m doing from Chicago at 7:00pm CT (8:00pm ET) this Wednesday. In fact, I’m going to give you three powerful questions you need to ask and answer in order to really know your prospect. (For more details about the series of live trainings I’m doing this week and next week, click here.)
Before I wrote my Match.com, profile, which in essence is a lead generation ad, I got into the head of the ideal woman I wanted to date and hopefully have a long term relationship with. Here’s what’s important:
I did NOT write things in my profile that were untrue because I knew that’s what a woman would want to hear. That would be blatant manipulation and guarantee that I would never have the long term relationship I’m seeking. I wrote the complete truth just on a deeper psychological level. It’s exactly the same regardless of what you’re selling.
Yes, you can use the powerful Psychic Sales tools to manipulate someone into buying something they don’t really want but your success will be short-lived. You won’t develop a relationship with your client, you can forget about referrals and quite frankly, you will never be a sales professional – you’ll be a con man.
The bottom line is this: Get to know your prospect on such a deep level that you can craft a sales presentation that will really help them get what they need and desire most.
Kick butt, make mucho “DEEnero!”

P.S. If you are interested in me writing more about the online dating “system” I use and how it relates to selling, let me know by posting a comment.
*Although I have yet to meet the “one”, I have had the privilege of dating some amazing women who have made my life richer and helped me to grow. I’m hoping, maybe soon (?) I’ll have that special long term realtionship I desire. Only time will tell. When it happens, I’ll be sure to let you know!
