In league with the devil

If you want to achieve such extraordinary results, your competitors will wonder if you’re in league with the devil…

Do the opposite of what they’re doing.

When they turn right, turn left.

Most people copy exactly what everyone else in their industry is doing. Their ads look the same; their intake process sounds the same; they deliver their service in the same way; their websites are similar, and so on.

This causes marketplace apathy, and prospects search for the lowest-priced way to solve their problems. The business owner then complains that everyone is only concerned about how much it costs when, in truth, the business owner created that problem.

“Yeah, but I’m better than my competitors,” some argue.

Maybe you are, maybe you aren’t. How am I, the consumer, able to know that for sure?

And if you are different from your competitors, why does the postcard inviting me to a dinner seminar look exactly like the other three I received this week? Your “inferior” competitor offers a steak dinner instead of chicken like you. I’ll go for the steak.

Doing more of what you’re already doing won’t result in a quantum leap in results. To experience that, you need to do things differently. Some of those “things” might be the opposite of what your industry claims are “best practices.”
