Yesterday, Karen and I stepped off the plane in Atlanta, and both said “Ahh” as we felt the warm breeze. We had returned from a beautiful, albeit freezing cold trip to Massachusetts.
Fortunately, I burned some calories from shivering which was good considering how much food I ate while being home.
But, I’m flummoxed; why would anyone in their right mind would want to live in a cold area. Heck, Atlanta gets too cold for us. That’s why we’re building a home on Marco Island, FL. I honestly can’t comprehend why someone would want to walk outside and have their face freeze off.
But guess what. Some people do like it. While my dad will complain about the cold, he said it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without it. My son, Drew, felt the same way and said he likes chilly weather.
I think they’re both nuts, but it doesn’t matter what I think; it’s what they like.
When doing a one-to-many sales presentation, you need to have a topic that appeals to your audience and deliver content that your audience is interested in. What you like doesn’t matter.
A mistake presenters make is talking about what they think is interesting instead of what interests their prospects. That plays out in many ways, but one of the most common is when the speaker gets into nitty-gritty technical details of their service. That bores most audiences, and their minds wander, or they start surfing the Internet.
Remember to craft your presentation to appeal to what is important to your audience, not what you think is important.
