Griselda Client-Getting Lessons

Kalia and I just finished watching the Netflix series Griselda—a show about Griselda Blanco, one of the most powerful drug lords ever.

Now, before you think I will suggest running your business like a cartel (I’m not), there’s a valuable lesson to learn from Griselda’s rise to power.

Here it is: Griselda knew her market. She didn’t waste time trying to sell to the wrong people. She targeted the right folks—those who needed what she had to offer and were willing to pay for it. And she did it with ruthless efficiency.

So, what’s the takeaway for us mere mortals who aren’t in the cartel business?

You’ve got to be crystal clear on who your ideal clients are and target them relentlessly.

Here’s how you can do it (minus the shady dealings):

  1. Define your ideal client: Get super specific. Who are they? What problems do they need to be solved? Where do they hang out? The more specific you get, the easier it is to find them.
  2. Focus your marketing efforts: Don’t try to sell to everyone—it wastes time, DEEnero, and energy. Target the people who are already looking for what you offer and willing to invest in to get your help.
  3. Stay consistent: Just like Griselda didn’t go in for a quick hit, you’ve got to stay on top of your marketing. Consistently showing up in front of the right people is key to building trust and eventually landing those high-quality clients.

Griselda wasn’t afraid to play big in a crowded marketplace, and neither should you. So, focus your efforts on your ideal clients and watch your consultations (and profits) go through the roof.
