Yesterday, I wrote an email bitterly complaining about there not being Internet access on a 10-hour flight from Italy.
Yeah, sure, I tied it into a personal development type of lesson, but the fact is I was still bitching.
Well, one of my faithful readers sent me the following email. (I am not including his name for privacy reasons.)
“Try dealing with cancer. It will change your perspective. You will become very thankful and very fortunate and very appreciative for very little things. You will become very patient and cherish every moment.”
Kind of puts things into perspective, doesn’t it?
I write in my gratitude journal every day but lost perspective at that moment on the plane.
Sometimes, if you really want to feel gratitude, it helps to imagine how it would be if you didn’t have the things you were grateful for.
Contrast can be mighty powerful.
Have a beautiful evening and give thanks for your blessings. I know I’ll be doing that.
