Did you see the first night of the Republican National Convention yesterday?
There was huge sales presentation lessons Donald Trump laid out for you on a silver platter. Did you catch them?
His entrance was a thing of beauty, perfectly staged and executed. Let’s look at the reasons why it was so powerful and how you can incorporate some of it into your next presentation.
- He broke everyone’s pattern. First, it is not customary for the presumptive nominee to introduce his wife. When you break tradition by doing something unexpected in your presentation, it makes your audience sit up and pay attention. It also puts them in a more susceptible state of influence.
- The dramatic lighting. You see this at rock concerts, not political conventions. Just seeing the silhouette of Trump was powerful symbolism. When he walked out of the darkness into the light, it was god-like imagery. How can you add more drama to your entrance?
- The pause. My guess is most people missed this but it is a major point of stagecraft. For approximately five seconds, Trump stood still in the shadows. Not only did this build up excitement in the audience, it completely transfixed everyone on him. This is a HUGE tip you can incorporate immediately. After you’re introduced, walk to center stage and be still for three seconds. Don’t say a word. You will have every eye in the place glued to you.
The DEEman just gave you some rockin’ advice. Take it, use it and profit from it.
