An unusual gratitude exercise

I’m reading a phenomenal book, “Code Of The Extraordinary Mind” by Vishen Lakhiani.

As do many personal development authors, Vishen writes about the power of gratitude but, in addition to thinking about and writing down what you are grateful for, he also suggests that you write down what you’re thankful for about yourself.

So today, in my Five Minute JournalI wrote the following:

  • I am grateful for what a great speaker I am.
  • I am grateful for being an awesome writer.
  • I am grateful for being an exceptional salesperson.

That might seem self-indulgent; however, I’ve found that many entrepreneurs, myself included, don’t give themselves credit for their accomplishments. Since we tend always to be striving for the next level, whatever that means, we don’t savor what we’ve already achieved.  Instead, we tend to “beat ourselves up” for not doing “better.”

Today, write down three things you’re grateful for about yourself and feel the emotions associated with it.

If you’re like me, this simple exercise might take you outside your comfort zone, but I believe you’ll find the rewards for doing so are worth it.

Have a fantastic Saturday.
