A stranger in a strange land

Imagine waking up from a deep nights sleep and you are on another planet. No one on this planet knows you, no one understands you, no one trusts you and you have to sell them your product or service in order to get back home.

(Cue Twilight Zone music.)

Speaking before a group of people who don’t know you and trying to sell them something is a daunting task and more difficult than selling to your own tribe,

Although the structure of your presentation remains the same, you need to spend more time on establishing why people should listen to you. You want your audience to understand that you’re an authority, celebrity and expert.

You also want them to truly believe that you understand them, their problems and their situation.

Although you must do this yourself at the very beginning of your presentation, you also want your prospects to have those beliefs about you before you step out onto the stage or start your online presentation.

You can accomplish this by sending video and written material in advance of your presentation to everyone who will be attending. Better still is to customize this material for your particular audience. Best is to get an endorsement, which you write, from the leader of the tribe, that accompanies your video and written material.

Do all that and you’ll have a very good chance of not only making it back home from the strange planet you landed on but doing so with a pocket full of money.

Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!
