What’s your favorite movie genre?
Mine is horror.
I’ve been drawn to it since I was a kid and have watched more horror movies than I can remember.
With that said, there are some movies in that genre that I refuse to watch because the subject matter is so distasteful.
There’s just some stuff you shouldn’t waste your time on.
But when it comes to entertainment, it’s all subjective.
To some extent, marketing tactics are the same.
While I prefer one-to-many selling, whether on stage or in a webinar, other business owners might not think they can stomach it. As you know, I love email marketing, while someone else might prefer video to market their service.
Our tactics vary, but 7 figure earners almost all follow proven principles regardless of whether they sell professional services, coaching, or consulting.
The insistence that “my business is different” is a cause of frustration and failure for many entrepreneurs. Yes, there are nuances in your business, but marketing and sales principles are universal.
I’ll prove it to you.
Let’s compare two diverse businesses: A birthday party magician and an estate planning attorney.
Here’s what the magician needs to do to have a successful business.
- Generate leads.
- Differentiate himself from other magicians so prospects don’t buy based on price.
- Talk to prospects on the phone or in person and close the sale.
- Get an agreement signed.
- Deliver a stellar show. (His service.)
- Get testimonials.
- Get referrals.
I could go on, but name one thing on that list that a successful estate planning attorney doesn’t have to do. Heck, answer the same question for any professional services business.
