My beloved Miami Dolphins experienced another humiliating defeat on Sunday. It was ugly with a capital “U.”
The team looked unprepared on both sides of the ball. Did they even practice during the week? It sure didn’t look like it.
Legendary football coach Vince Lombardi said, “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.”
But here’s the truth when it comes to performing, whether you’re doing a webinar or in-person group presentation.
The only way to get really good is to do a lot of presentations in front of live audiences.
You can practice in the comfort of your home or office in solitude, and you should, but there is no substitute for doing it for real. The more times you do a presentation, the better you’ll get at it and the more sales you’ll make.
The sad truth is most entrepreneurs will try something one time, and if it doesn’t work, or if they’re uncomfortable while doing it, they quit.
Back in the day, when I was a professional entertainer, it was always a challenge to add a new routine to my show because no matter how much I practiced, the new routine would not be as effective as the ones I had done hundreds of times. But guess what, the more I did the routine in front of an audience, the better I got at it and the better the reactions to it were.
Today after doing hundreds of one-to-many sales presentations, I can knock it out of the park the first time I do a new one. Even still, the more I do it, the more comfortable I get, and my results improve.
If you’re not doing one-to-many selling yet, I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and start ASAP. There’s not a better conversion tool.
If you are doing webinars and/or in-person presentations, keep working at it because the results you’ll experience are magnificent.
