Unless you were living under a rock, you are aware of the confirmation hearing, of now, associate justice Brett Kavanaugh. What a circus.
No, your fearless leader is not here to reignite the fires of controversy but rather pass on the sales wisdom from this debacle that you can use to make mucho DEEnero.
Fortunately, as entrepreneurs, we don’t face the level of scrutiny from our prospects, Associate Justice Kavanaugh met. Even so, our prospects have objections that if less unanswered, will derail the sale.
Lousy salespeople and business owners who have the misguided belief that sales are “below” them, cower away from objections. They hope and pray the prospect doesn’t raise any of them. They fear the dreaded “O” word.
Pros handle objections, NOT with fancy rebuttals, like those taught by the sales gurus, but in advance. The pro scripts the answers to objections into his presentation, and answers them before the prospect raises them.
This is mission critical in a one-to-many sales presentation where prospects might not have the opportunity to voice their objection. However, it is also important in one-to-one sales situation.
If you don’t bring up an objection before your prospect does, you are automatically put on the defensive. Look at Kavanaugh hearings for a case in point.
Yes, it is sometimes true that an objection is the prospect “requesting more information,” often an objection represents a primary reason why the prospect will not buy what you’re selling. Eliminating that objection before your prospect voices it, makes closing the sale much easier and smoother.
Unlike Kavanaugh, we have the luxury of scripting the answers to all of our prospects objections in advance. So, your assignment is to do just that and then weave the answers into your presentation.
Yeah, I know most won’t take the time to do that and their sales will continue to suffer because of it. Maybe you’ll be one of the few who takes their game to the next level.
