Last night Karen and I went to see Paul McCartney, and all I can say is “wow.”
Sir Paul is 75 years old and played for just a tick under three-hours! He sounded great and had the audience in the palm of his hand.
I love watching the old pros work and learn a lot from them.
In addition to giving his audience more than their money’s worth and over-delivering (good lessons), he also looked like he was enjoying what he was doing.
I’ve seen so many people on stage or in webinars appear that they would rather be somewhere else. This energy naturally has a negative effect on the audience and sales.
Next, he did a great job of endearing himself to the audience. Although he didn’t go into the crowd, he brought fans onto the stage and really talked to them. And when they were onstage, he treated them well.
I hate when speakers or entertainers abuse audience members. That is a selling strategy, by the way, and it works in the short term but do you want to be that guy?
No, be like Paul and get your audience to love you. You will sell a lot more and develop long term relationships.
