Last night, the wife and I plopped ourselves down on the couch and watched the movie “Joy” starring Jennifer Lawrence.
It came out a number of years ago but somehow it escaped my powerful movie radar but I’m glad I finally got to see it and Uncle Dave is going to insist you watch it too.
The film is loosely based on the life of Joy Mangano who created a business empire and is seen regularly on the Home Shopping Network. The story centers around the first product that she created, “The Miracle Mop.”
If you’re a business owner or entrepreneur then this is a must see movie. (And if you’re neither one of those, why the heck are you a subscriber to my daily email? Must be for my wit and charm.)
The lessons in this movie for us are plentiful. Including the power of an idea, mixed with persistence, a never-say-die attitude, mental and emotional toughness, overcoming fear, risk taking and selling with passion equal success.
You have to have all of those elements in place if you want to succeed including the ability to sell the hell out of your product. Guess what…
Joy became a master of one to many selling and did it on the biggest stage on the planet but listen to this, my fine friend:
She had to pitch at least three times, in three different one-to-many scenarios, in order to succeed.
First, she did a one-to-many pitch to her family and in particular to her dad’s wealthy girlfriend to get funding for her invention. Then, she had to pitch in a boardroom to sell to her idea to a shopping channel. Then she had to pitch in front of millions of viewers to sell her product.
If you want to make a lot of sales, get a boatload of appointments and promote your business so your competition plays a distant second fiddle to you, then you must learn to sell in one to many selling scenarios both online and offline. It’s not a luxury. It’s a necessity and is becoming more and more so daily. Not getting really good at this, is costing you money, sales and customers. It’s that simple.
If you’re ready to step up into the big leagues and want to get my personal helping creating, improving and perfecting your one-to-many pitches, then you’ll be interested in attending the small, 2-day workshop I’m doing in my home in June.
This is only for serious players, if that’s you then send an email to me at dd@davedee.com with the subject line, “Private Event In Your Home” and I’ll respond with more details.
