Kalia and I are now in Singapore. Let me tell you—it’s a far cry from the rustic charm of Chiang Mai.
In Chiang Mai, life was laid-back and full of earthy, authentic experiences. Singapore, on the other hand, feels like stepping into a polished, futuristic world. Everything is pristine, perfectly orchestrated, and gleaming with sophistication.
Both places are wildly different, yet equally extraordinary. One isn’t “better” than the other—it’s all about appreciating what makes each unique.
The same is true when it comes to sales.
A lot of people think being a great salesperson means having the “gift of gab.” You know, the charming, fast-talking personality that can sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves. But let me set the record straight: that’s a myth.
Some of the best salespeople I’ve met are quiet, thoughtful, and incredibly good at listening. Others are high-energy, bubbly, and full of charisma. There’s no one-size-fits-all personality for success in sales.
What matters is being authentic to who you are while mastering the core skills of sales.
Here’s the key: Selling isn’t about “gabbing” your way into someone’s wallet. It’s about understanding your prospect’s needs, tailoring your message to them, and guiding them to the solution that’s best for them.
When you try to be something you’re not—or rely on personality alone—you end up sounding fake or, worse, pushy. But when you show up as your true self and focus on building trust, your sales consultations become natural and effective.
Take a moment to ask yourself: What makes you unique as a salesperson?
Are you the empathetic listener who asks the right questions? The enthusiastic explainer who makes solutions clear and simple? Or maybe the calm strategist who helps clients feel confident in their decisions?
You don’t need the “gift of gab” to close sales. You just need to embrace your own style, focus on what your prospect needs, and guide them toward the right decision.
After all, Singapore and Chiang Mai couldn’t be more different, but they’re both unforgettable destinations. Your selling style might be just as unique—and just as impactful.
