Nosferatu In The Jungle?

There’s a new version of Nosferatu, and I’m dying (pun intended) to see it.

As a huge fan of the original silent horror classic, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this remake. The eerie atmosphere, the looming shadows—pure cinematic gold.

But there’s one little problem: tomorrow, Kalia and I will be in a remote village in Chiang Mai. I’m pretty sure they don’t have a Dolby surround-sound theater showing Nosferatu.

Instead, we’ll be spending the night in a tent, surrounded by the quiet of the jungle. It’s going to be a stark contrast to the chilling organ music and shadowy corridors of the movie.

While I won’t get my Nosferatu fix just yet, this trip got me thinking about something that creeps me out even more than vampires: the outdated, high-pressure sales techniques some folks still use during consultations.

You know the ones:

  • Pushing prospects into a decision before they’re ready.
  • Throwing out “if you don’t act now, you’ll regret it forever” ultimatums.
  • Using awkward silences as a weapon instead of a tool.

Here’s the thing: this approach doesn’t work anymore. Heck, it never really did—not if you wanted to build long-term trust and attract high-quality clients.

Prospects are more sophisticated than ever, and they’re turned off by anything that makes them feel cornered.

Instead of acting like a vampire draining the life out of someone’s willpower, focus on becoming a trusted guide. Ask thoughtful questions. Help them uncover their real needs. Paint a vivid picture of what their life or business could look like with your help.

When you do, you won’t need to “close” hard because they’ll already be saying, “This is exactly what I need.”

Take it from a Nosferatu fan: shadows and high-pressure tactics belong in the movies, not your consultations.

Now, excuse me while I figure out how to watch Nosferatu after our jungle adventure.
