Biden’s blunder

Um, didja see the debate last week?

What a train wreck.

Although it was apparent to everyone that what I’m about to tell you wasn’t the only reason the President performed so poorly, it did factor in.

I’m talking about being over-prepared.

Biden spent a week at Camp David prepping for the debate. Undoubtedly, they gave him talking points and statistics to remember and went over it with him repeatedly.

The problem is when you over-prepare, you can come out flat. I’ve done this before when I had an important sales presentation. I would rehearse the presentation multiple times in my room before hitting the stage. That’s good. What wasn’t smart was doing the entire presentation right before delivering.

The presentation went smoothly, and I hit my mark, but it was flat. My energy was off because I had just done the presentation, and my delivery wasn’t crisp.

The other problem with over-preparing is that it, paradoxically, leads to more anxiety instead of confidence power.

Yes, you want to practice and rehearse, just not too much.

Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!
