Ouch, this sucks

Although it was approximately 30 years ago, I remember it like yesterday.

I walked into a yoga class at the gym. I unrolled my mat and then started doing strange things with my body. I was sweating and cursing to myself because it was downright uncomfortable and painful in some poses.

Please move forward to today. I walked into the gym at our home, unrolled my yoga mat, and tried a new 47-minute routine. Even after practicing yoga for decades, some of the new postures were still uncomfortable, but I felt fantastic by the end of the practice.

Why did I continue doing yoga after my first unpleasant experience? Simple. I knew that it was good for me and helped me be healthier. The truth is, I grew to love doing it.

We feel awkward and uncomfortable trying something new and might not like it.

The question to answer is, “Is it worth it?” If the answer is “yes,” continue working through the discomfort.

For example, doing webinars and seminars is a superior way to fill your calendar with prospective clients. However, most folks who sell professional services don’t do them because they aren’t comfortable with public speaking.

Some people used to do seminars but have yet to transition to webinars because they’ve never done them before or tried once or twice and didn’t get the desired results.

Instead of working their way through the initial discomfort to enjoy the results, they later prefer to complain about not having enough clients or revert to using less effective marketing methods.

If you want to grow your business, you need to stretch.
