Getting people to show up – a problem

You’re excited. 200 people have registered for your webinar. You have a great presentation planned. You’re going to “kill” it.

You login to your webinar account 15 minutes before the start time to make sure everything is all set.

Five minutes before you’re scheduled to start, you check to see how many people are watching…and your heart sinks. Out of the 200 folks who registered to attend, only 40 showed up. You wonder what happened.

There is a lot of talk about how to get people to register for events but very little about how to get them to show up.

Today, I’m going to share with you a counter-intuitive strategy that works like gangbusters. Here ’tis…

Have an immediate upsell after someone registers for your free event. That’s right, make an irresistible offer and try to sell them a non-competing but complimentary product to the one you’re selling on the webinar.

Most people think selling something immediately will hurt webinar sales. The opposite is true and here’s why:

Someone who spends money and becomes a buyer is more likely to show up for the webinar and more likely to buy, provided that they liked the first thing you sold them. Burn this into your brain:

A buyer is a buyer is a buyer.

Tomorrow, I’m going to share with you a second secret that not only makes people show up for the webinar but also more primed to buy.

Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!
