Last night, my son and I had our weekly date. We ordered Chinese food, played some street hockey in my living room, and then settled in to watch the Atlanta Thrashers play a crucial game against the Devils. Unfortunately, they lost. It was heartbreaking because it looked like they had tied the game with about 40 seconds left, but the ref disallowed the goal.
A couple days before, the Thrashers were down 3-0 in the third period. Came back to make it 3-2. Then went down 4-2 with about 7 minutes left to play. It looked grim, but the boys kept playing hard, roared back to tie the game with just over a minute to play, and then won in overtime.
Here is the reality of life and business. You can play hard, do your best, and do almost everything right and still have things not work out in your favor. There are certain things you can’t control, and sometimes things are just going to go wrong – despite your best efforts.
Now, you don’t want to delude yourself into thinking that you are doing everything you can to succeed when, in reality, you’re not. You don’t want to trick yourself into believing that it is just fate or circumstances beyond your control, that are causing you to not get the results you want.
You want to engage in what Napoleon Hill calls “Accurate Thinking.” This means to really looks at things they way they are and then accurately access what you need to do to make them the way you want them to be. Ask yourself: am I really doing all I can? Do I need to change my approach? Is there something additional I should be doing? Did I make some mistakes that I need to correct? Is the outcome I’m trying to achieve actually realistic for where I am right now? Do I need to educate myself more in a certain area? Would investing in coaching help me?
The key to your long term success is not just to play as hard as you can and do the best you can – although this is mission critical. The key is to engage in accurate thinking, monitor the results you’re getting without making excuses for a lack of results, change your approach if what you’re doing isn’t working, and constantly work to improve.
I know that times are tough for some entrepreneurs – maybe you. The motivational snake oil salesmen will tell you that if things aren’t going your way right now, you just need to be more positive, visualize what you want, and the “universe” will drop it into your lap. (It’s a very appealing premise and sells a lot of books and seminars.) But in this post, I’ve given you the truth and a real deal plan for turning things around.
Don’t give up. If you follow the plan and keep on battling – you will eventually end up scoring that game winning goal.

P.S. Here is another truth for you: It doesn’t matter what business you’re in. It doesn’t matter how well or how poorly you’re doing. The ONE thing you can do right now to make more money is close more sales. And because money might be tough, I’ve created a sales training program that is ultra-inexpensive so that EVERYONE can afford it. A whole bunch of smart people have taken advantage of this offer, but if you haven’t yet, you need to engage in accurate thinking and ask yourself why. It can’t be the price. It can’t be that you don’t think it will work because I guarantee it will. (I will let you go through the entire program, and if it doesn’t help you, I will give you a complete refund.) It can’t be because you don’t want to make more sales. Quite frankly, there is no reason for you not to jump on this right now. Don’t wait any longer. Go to: www.salesmagicsecret.com.

You are absolutely right. If things aren’t going your way it’s probably a result of something that you’re doing. Sometimes you have to dig deep, but you can almost always find a way to turn things around.

I’m a strong believer in what you put out you get back. With that said it must be remembered that action is included in that statement. If you don’t take action along with your “positive attitude” you’re most likely not going to get back what you expect. On the flip side if you do nothing but take constant action without the positive attitude you may get discouraged if it takes longerh than expected to get results and then give up before reaching the pot of gold. Where you are is a direct result of what you’ve done, not a result of what your doing. You’re not reading this blog because you’re reading this blog. Your reading this blog because you opened up your email and clicked on a link.

Agreed… But did you read before posting? Interesting statistic would be to see how many cancel subscription after reading this post?
I know I am giving you a hard time, but it is the least one expects from an expert.
I am sure you can moderate my comment off the blog, please feel free. And thanks for the usually decent advice.

Sometimes we stop to soon see my video on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBL2mZEEkf8
And sometimes we are doing the wrong thing and afraid to stop.
If we’re sure its not the second then you are right we need to look at what we are doing and how we are doing and ask for help. (This can be in any form.)
If what you’re doing isn’t working, why are you doing more of it?

Hey Eyal.
In addition to accurate thinking it is good to use accurate writing.
It appears you are criticizing Dave’s post for some reason but even after reading your comments and Dave’s post over several times I have no clue why you think there will be cancellations caused by this post. Your comments are very confusing and of no value to anyone.
