My little girl – a marketing genius?
I LOVE going to the movies. It’s one of my favorite things to do.
On the way to a movie, my daughter Gina starts talking about all the ways money is made from people going to the movies.
She told me that, of course, money is made when people buy tickets and then “they try to get you to buy popcorn, soda and candy right when you walk in.” She pointed out that the video games in the theater and additional candy machines also make money.
Her most astute observation was that they show previews of upcoming movies to get people excited about them so they come back and spend more money.
What Gina did was put on her moneymaking x-ray glasses to be able to see all the different ways a business could be monetized. Unfortunately, most business owners never do this. They never figure out ways to add additional profit centers to their current business. You need to think about this.
While we were riding home Gina told me, “Daddy, I want to be an artist when I grow up but I want to own a building. In half of the building I’m going to show my art and in the other half I’m going to sell my art and other people’s art as well.”
Anybody want to invest in some Gina stock now?
