Hot Legs marketing that can make YOU #1
Yesterday, I talked about all the stuff Rod Stewart’s marketing team did to make one of his albums #1. (If you missed the article, it’s here on my blog).
Today I’m going share with you how you can use these marketing strategies in your own business to successfully launch your own product or service. If you use these techniques, you can easily double your profits the next time you do a marketing campaign. If you think, “This doesn’t apply to me,” you’re missing a huge opportunity and leaving a ton of money on the table.
One of the most important things Stewart’s team did was make sure all of their marketing efforts hit in a short period of time. Commercials, television appearances, radio and print campaigns all happened within about a two week period. This caused a buzz and helped to grow anticipation for the album’s release.
If you are launching a new business or having a major event, you are far better to concentrate your marketing efforts than you are to dilute them by spreading them out over a long period of time.
Next, they teased the album by giving fans a little sample song from it. As the release date approached they let fans listen to more and more songs. Again, fans kept going back to his website to see what was happening. (A very good strategy.)
They only had Rod appear on programs that the people in his target market watch. You didn’t see him on MTV (like you would have in the past) but he was on Leno, The View, etc.
Where you advertise and promote yourself has as much an impact as your actual marketing message. Advertise in the wrong place and it doesn’t matter how good your marketing is.
Finally, and probably most importantly, his product (the new album) was matched perfectly with what his target market wanted to buy. Many longtime fans, like me, wanted an album of originals but his record label knew that an album of soft rock cover songs from the 70′s would appeal to a wider majority of his target market and that even his longtime fans would still buy the album.
You never want to have to sell anything. You simply want to find out what people want and give it to them.
So here is what you need to do RIGHT NOW, to make sure that your next marketing campaign is a smashing success:
Take out your calendar and decide the precise date you want to launch your next campaign and block off the exact dates that the promotion will run. Remember, you want to concentrate your marketing efforts over a short period of time. Then start thinking about what you can do during this period of time to get your precise target market excited about what you have to offer.
Okay, it’s time for me to pop in the CD and sit back and relax.
Kick butt, make mucho DEE-nero!

P.S., Oh, one of the other keys to Stewart’s success was that he had a multiple step, integrated marketing campaign. His team did not just use one strategy, but many ones and each strategy delivered the same marketing message.
