How to be a rock star in your community

“That’s why I want to be a rock star
I want to be the king
I want to be on top, yeah
I just want to be a rock star
Yeah…
now I just want to be famous
I want to be the guy
That everybody wants”

-Everclear

I’m actually listening to the Everclear tune as I write you to you this morning and I betcha that I’m the only person who has ever used a rock ‘n roll reference when talking about business blogging! :)

So with that introduction, here is part 3 of my 5 part series on how your business can profit from blogging.

Becoming A Business Blogging Rockstar

Blogging is about communications and relationships. You are about to discover 5 very effective ways to become a Business Blogging Rockstar in your community.

Follow these guidelines and see your visibility and profile expand beyond your doorstep and across the internet.

How do you do that?

1. Make comments on other Business blogs.

This is a great way for people to know about you and find your Business Blog.

2. Visit popular sites and leave useful comments. When you leave a comment on a relevant site that your target audience visits regularly, people will naturally want to find out more about you and your local business.

3. Visit the websites or blogs of people who comment on your site

Another great way to build valuable relationships is to visit the website or the blog of people who have taken the time to comment on your Business Blog. Many of your prospects, customers and clients will have their own webpages and blogs and imagine their surprise when they see that you have visited and left a comment!

4. Link regularly to other Business Blogs and posts

Linking is a great way to get ‘link love’ and get ranked higher in the search engine results. When you link often to other people’s posts (of value) you are attracting more exposure to your Business Blog

5. Give credit where credit is due

If you believe people are doing good things (in the community or elsewhere) leave comments…even on your competitor’s blog!

How do you get started today? It’s easy! Go to http://www.davedee.com/ybps

(Remember, you are always welcome to speak your mind by commenting on the blog!)

    Dave,

I have been a long time reader. I am a partner in an Architectural firm and I have been really putting serious thought into how to use both social media and blogging to ramp up referrals and make those connections with folks.

I look around, and I don’t really see any other architects doing this stuff. Most are still doing stuff the traditional way – in person, face to face referral and marketing type meetings.

There has to be a way to create a following in this niche – just not sure how.

I have not really found the answer. Potentially everyone is our client or could be a “referral giver”.

Any thoughts? Any thoughts on content? etc.
